Ander Herrera hits out against the Super League

Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has expressed his rejection of the Super League: “I don’t like it because I think it takes away the dreams and hopes of the fans of the small teams. Plus the big teams are big teams because there are small teams. It’s as simple as that.”,

I believe that the Champions League has to be improved. I think that UEFA has to consider the interests of all the clubs as well as those clubs that make competitions like the Champions Leauge great, like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus. Teams that are traditionally champions league teams that make the competition special.”

But you cant tell Girona fans that if they win La Liga this season, that they won’t be able to play against the best. I was listening to the CEO of the Super league and I was very amused. He said Girona fans would definitely understand if they were told that they couldn’t play the Champions League next season and that they’d have to go to a ‘third tier competition’ – forgive me if I laugh, thats ridiculous absolutely ridiculous.”

“I understand and respect that some fans of the big teams want the Super League, but I don’t like it because I believe that Union Berlin deserves to play in the Champions League because they deserved it last year. If Girona earns it this year they deserve to play in the Champions League, and also like Real Sociedad who had magnificent season last year, they deserve it too.”

“I don’t believe that any fans from those teams would accept letting others manage their dreams or tell them ‘no look we have a better plan for you, your note going to play Champions League, your going to play a third tier competition because we think it’s better for you’ – come on, lets leave jokes aside and let’s be serious.”, Ander Herrera concluded.
