The PSG star who is out of contract in June has speculations about him ramped up regarding his future destination.
Mbappe is now free to enter pre-contract negotiations with clubs outside of France, with long-term admirers Real Madrid believed to be leading the chase for his signature.
Whilst PSG are hopeful of persuading the 25-year-old of committing his future to the club, Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for the World Cup winner.
The Reds hold an outside chase of luring Mbappe to the Premier League but potentially hold a trump card in basketball icon James.
Lakers power forward purchased a two per cent stake in Liverpool in 2011 and has built up a strong bond with the Frenchman, with both superstars signed with sportswear giants Nike.
In an interview with GQ magazine, Mbappe lifted the lid on his relationship with James and revealed the NBA star has a major influence on his decision making.
“He has a much more advanced career than I do, and projects outside sport that have cemented his place as a legend,” Mbappe explained.
“Being able to ask such inspiring personalities for advice is a chance to adjust my projects and create my own thing that is as effective as possible for today’s young people.
“These projects grow with me and make me particularly proud. It’s important for me to convey values like dialogue and sharing by surrounding myself with partners who support but above all understand and validate my societal commitment.”
Mbappe recently revealed he has not yet made a decision on his future, despite time running out on his existing deal.
His choice to extend his contract in the French capital in 2022 was not finalized until the final day of the season but both Real Madrid and PSG are keen to avoid a repeat episode.
