Lionel Messi could be reunited with another former Barcelona team-mate at Inter Miami, with Philippe Coutinho the latest to generate transfer talk.
The MLS outfit have already bolstered their ranks with the notable additions of Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez. There is plenty of speculation to suggest that the influx of ex-Barca stars in Florida will not stop there.
Sergi Roberto has been the subject of rumours in the United States, while Brazil international playmaker Coutinho is now dominating gossip columns. The 31-year-old is currently on loan at Al-Duhail, with Aston Villa allowing him to spend the 2023-24 campaign outside of England.
Coutinho has, however, struggled in the Middle East – taking in just 419 minutes of action this season. With that in mind, AS reports that the former Liverpool star could be on the move again in January. If a deal in Qatar is ripped up, it is claimed that the South American could head to America – with the LA Galaxy also said to be keen.
Coutinho previously spent three seasons on the books at Barca with Messi, following a £105 million ($134m) transfer from Liverpool in 2018. His form started to deteriorate in Spain, with only 106 appearances taken in for La Liga giants across four years, but he may get the chance to rekindle a lost spark alongside familiar faces at DRV PNK Stadium.
